This is a very nice introductory weaving set. I did a small amount of weaving when I was younger, and this is a very nice set for children. I bought this for my 7 year old SON, who is very artistic and he is having great fun with it. My 9 year old is also very interested in it, so I am going to get another kit. But BEWARE!!! If you are buying this. The box only has girls on it!!!! I almost sent it back for fear that it would turn my boys off with the message that this is only for girls. Luckily, my sons don't pay a lot of attention to this, but ALEX should be more careful about the messages they are sending. Weaving is a great hobby for girls AND boys. Some of the greatest weavers in history have been men and in some native cultures, only men were allowed to weave. Weaving is a great and relaxing hobby that both girls and boys should be encouraged to enjoy. If not for the marketing issues, I would have given this item 5 stars.

I've used other looms with pegs at both ends to wrap the yarn around, and those frequently snapped off. So I really like how the base of this loom is one solid piece of wood with notches instead of pegs.

Both my 2nd grade son and 1st grade daughter used this loom to supplement their study of ancient Greek/Roman cultures, and were quite pleased with the placemats they made. My son wanted to know why weaving was considered work since it was so much fun!

While they have set this loom aside now that spring is here, I think they will still voluntarily choose to use it in the weeks to come. And if not, it still has a lot of potential for rainy/sick days and for making special gifts for doting relatives.

My daughter received this loom as a gift for her 6th birthday. Even though the box says for ages 7 and up, and even though she's not the most nimble-fingered kid, she has no trouble using this loom with just a little help. The materials seem to be high quality and it comes with a good amount of thick, colorful yarn. The loom has been keeping my daughter happily occupied for long periods of time. She enjoys watching me knit, but doesn't have the dexterity yet to knit herself, so she's thrilled to be able to weave herself scarves and the like.

I bought this kit because i love to do paper crafts, but when i opened it I was very disappointed, it was not what i expected for the money i paid. The cut and color masks are a little scary for smaller children, there is only 2 in the package that is acceptable for young children the rest are scary dinosaur faces. I was expecting cute animal faces. I did get glue and scissors in the package which isn't stated in the picture and description. Overall the purchase was a big disappointment, I won't be purchasing it again.

We ordered two of these for christmas gifts and when we got them we turned around and sent them right back. Inside the vinyl holder was a very small pack of materials, it just looked like very little for [the money]. We didn't open the small package of materials because we knew it was going back. When we spend [money] on a gift it has got to be more substantial than this.

My 6 year old and I spent a great rainy afternoon making masks and then putting togeather little skits that we performed for his Mom. I liked that there were many options that helped my son bring out his creativity. Something different from the usual action figure stuff. He also liked the carrying case.
