Returned Toy
Annoying and Frustrating - not a good cause and effect toyI bought this toy a few days ago for my one year old son and just finished repackaging it to return it to the store. We gave it a good try for a few days (I'd rather keep a toy that atleast has some potential than return it), but it was just too frustrating.
It seems they were trying to do too much with this toy. Is it a pull toy, cause/effect toy, or a shape sorter? Well it doesn't do any of those things well. It doesn't roll well, the buttons are hard to push (probably in part because it is on wheels, but also even if you push the buttons all the way, it may or may not activate it), and the shapes come out when the wheels roll or the top button is pushed - accompanied by an annoying "WHOOPS!". Part of the programming, but the "WHOOPS" & "shape-sorter" song is too frequent, seemingly random (you can't cut off the song with the push of a button) and very annoying. I thought maybe my son just needs to be a little older (he loves cause & effect devices & toys (remote controls, push button phones, dvd player, etc), but the "effect" part of this toy is way too inconsistent. I think the most enjoyment he got from this toy was picking it up and tossing it.
I gave this toy two stars for the cute design & good quality - it's very solid & well made, but it is too annoying & I think you're better off buying some other toy(s) instead for your little one.

What a Wonderful Toy!!!!This cute little bug just lights up my son's face from the minute he wakes up to bedtime. He is 14 months, and so far he likes the songs and the lights and you can't forget the pulling and dropping it everywhere!!! It's a great toy!!
I just noticed as I was typing this, the pull along string, he wrapped it around his neck. So that isn't all that good.
He loves the toy, so i have to too!! Thats what happens when you buy toys that are loud, they love them. Just have to watch the kids with that string though.

My 1 yr old loves dancing to this drumWe were given this drum for my son's first birthday. It has round buttons around the sides to change between three modes: a basic single drum beat sound, a couple of short single electronic sounds, and music (a total of three songs lasting about 20 or 30 seconds each that I could best describe as tropical party rhythms). My son loves beating on this drum and particularly enjoys the music setting. He loves bouncing up and down to the songs. As a rare treat with his toys, my husband and I actually find the music kind of catchy ourselves. Overall, I don't quite get why my 1 yr old likes this drum so much, but then, he also loves our pans and tupperware, and I don't understand that either.

Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Roundhouse
Made by Learning Curve
Amazon base price: $84.99
Average review score:

Not a favorite. My three-year-old son loves Thomas & has many of the wooden railway sets & pieces. We thought he would love the Roundhouse, but this is the least played with item in his collection. In fact, I can't say that I've seen him play with it more than a couple of times and never for long. He'd much rather spend his time moving his trains around the tracks and over mountains and bridges (a much better way to spend your Thomas money, if you ask me). This piece is overpriced for what it is and you really need the round-about turntable to go with it (so, add an additional thirty to the cost). It is well constructed like all of the other Thomas & Friends wooden pieces by Learning Curve, which is why I gave it 2 stars.
So...gauge your child's interest before purchase by watching how he or she plays. Your little conductor might have you spend the money on other items (mountains, extra tracks, a water tower, etc.) than on this piece. I know the Roundhouse is one we could live without, though maybe my son will develop an interest in it later. Go to your local toy store where a configuration is on display & see if your child uses the roundhouse much before making this purchase.

Every Thomas fan needs one of these! If your child likes playing with Thomas & Friends trains, the Roundhouse is where the engines can rest after a long day of work. This has 5 sheds that can store small engines like Thomas and Percy, and even large engines like Gordon and James. It can simply be used with the Round-about Turntable (sold separately) or the 5-way switch track (included). This bulding is a little more expensive than others, but it will be worth the money because your child will be able to have a place for housing the Thomas engines.
Expensive...Yes...and worth every penny!I purchased this roundhouse for my 3 year old daughter. She loves anything Thomas! She began her Thomas collection with the figure 8 set and a couple of trains. As I realized how much she loved Thomas, I began to purchase more pieces to add to her collection. Rather than spend a lot of money upfront on a big set, I recommend starting small on a figure 8 set. As your child's interest in Thomas grows or solidifies, add items such as the table, roundhouse, other buildings, etc. I will caution that when you buy items "a la carte", it is very difficult to have everything fit nicely on the table. The roundhouse is her favorite building and all of her friends who come over to play, love it as well. The roundhouse does come with a 5 switch as pictured on the box, the red turntable is a separate item. The turntable is also a great addition to the roundhouse, but not a necessity. The roundhouse will not disappoint for any Thomas enthusiast!!!

My daughter loves this toy!I recently bought this for my 19 month old who absolutely LOVES it! She'll actually sit down and play with it for a good 30 or 40 min, take a break, then come back to it and play with it again for another half hour. The shapes are the perfect size for her little hands. Each shape is also a rattle, so they make fun noises for younger babies.
A parent can easily open the sorter by twisting either the top or bottom, but I think it would be very difficult for a baby or toddler to open. The other thing I like about this sorter is that it has three shapes on either end, so as the baby becomes more confident with the toy, they will learn how to flip it over to find the opening they need rather then mom turning it for them. My daughter started out with a sorter that was a bucket with a flat lid that had 4 different shapes on top. This worked when she was younger (though she still liked all sorters), but has since masteed it and therefore grown tired of it. This new sorter adds a new challenge, so it's still interesting for her. Another nice feature is that each shape and opening is color coded making it easier for the child to find and match the shapes. It's obviously also a great chance to teach colors.
The only negative I can mention is a minor one. The hole for the round shape isn't very tight, so sometimes the circle falls back out. It doesn't bother my daughter (I don't think she notices), she just pops it back in. Some shapes need to pushed a little harder then you'd expect, but that's just helped my daughter to learn the word 'push.'
All in all, I'd say it's an excellent toy that, if bought as early as 8 months, will easily last you for a year if not longer.

GREAT DOLL!i collect anne geddes dolls. They are very fun to use, and collect. To me, they are a good toy for anyone in the age range of 3-10. My sister who is 12 even likes them!! I hope you buy an Anne Geddes doll because they are soo much fun to collect and to play with!!
collector's itemOver time I have bought several of Anne Geddes dolls, including this quirky little hedgehog, for my 6 year old daughter. They are her absolute favorite dolls. Although they aren't a learning toy (the dolls do not advertise to be an educational toy) they are certainly beautiful and would make a wonderful addition or beginning to anyone's doll collection.
15" Hedgehog from Anne GeddesPerfect transaction. Product shipped fast and packed well. This product was excellent!!! Would buy from them again.

Do not Buy!My son loves dogs and I thought this was a perfect pool toy for him. And he was so excited to get it for his second birthday, we took it right to the pool to play with it right away! THe puppy is so cute in the water as it wags it's tail and swims around. That lasted about 15 minutes untill the legs stoped working. They seemed to have come out of their sockets but I could not replace them. When I brought this puppy back to the store to replace it I noticed that the battery compartment is not water proofed! I thought maybe it was a flook and bought another one but the second puppy stopped working in about 20 minutes because the batteries are getting wet. Who makes a bath/pool toy that isn't water proof?
There is no value in having this toy. Neither one of my boys were interested in the toy.
