Barbie Fairytopia Magical Mermaid - Christie

EmmaLibMy daughters love these mermaid barbies. The first one we bought, the tail kept falling off, so we bought another one. Unfortunately, the tail falls off the new one, too. The girls still love them though, and play with them in the tub every time.
nice toyMy daughter got this for Christmas and contrary to reading bad reviews, I had decided to buy it anyways. I read time and time again reviews stating that the tail continously falls off, however, I believe this is because these people writing the reviews simply didnot push the tail all the way up and click it into place to begin with. At first I thought the same thing. And while this toy serves no educational purpose, it is fun in the tub for little girls.
Tail needs to "Snap" in placeIn the reviews of the other versions of this there were a lot of complaints about the tail falling off. I too returned the first one thinking it was a faulty tail. But then I read the instructions and it actually tells you to snap it in place. Now it is fine. the tops fall off quite often, but only because my daughter is constantly carrying all three mermaid in her arms and they get knocked off. This is by far the greatest group of Barbies in my daughter's 4 year old eyes. She adores them.

Not worth itMy five year old wasn't impressed with this = the paper gets caught and doesn't rip well. The markers don't stay in the holes - the desk is clunky and akward. Buy a coloring book and call it a day!
where r da refills...but coolWhen i saw this i thought 'how fun and educational' - which it is. it's teaching kids to write letters the 'old - fashioned' way without emails and how to do fun, creative art. I LUV IT!

Barbie as Lucy From "I Love Lucy"
Made by Mattel
- 'I Love Lucy®' is one of the world's very favorite television shows. Since its inception in October of 1951, Lucy Ricardo - along with her husband Ricky Ricardo and neighbors Fred and Ethel Mertz - is an unforgettable character, always funny and unique. Classic, timeless, and eternally hilarious, 'I Love Lucy®' remains a benchmark of comedy.
- One iconic Lucy costume is her navy and white polka dot dress with white apron. Although seen in many episodes, it is perhaps most memorable in 'Sales Resistance'. Originally broadcast on January 26, 1953, 'Sales Resistance' begins with Fred and Ethel around the piano as Ricky records a song he wrote for Lucy, who is in the hospital after having a baby.
- In fact, Lucy bought the new tape recorder from the woman in the next bed. This story causes the triou at home to reminisce about their sales experiences. Lucy is in her kitchen, showing Ethel the 'Handy Dandy Kitchen Helper' she had ordered from TV.
- When Ricky discovers yet another frivolous purchase, he demands that Lucy return it to the company. Lucy tells Ricky how difficult it is for her to resist a salesman, but Ricky insists. When the salesman comes that afternoon, he happily takes back the kitchen gadget, but bamboozles Lucy into buying a 'Handy Dandy' vacuum cleaner.
- Again Ricky insists that Lucy return this new acquisition, but she knows that the salesman can sell her anything. Ricky finally agrees to return it himself. To avoid another sales pitch, Lucy takes off for the movies with Ethel.

lucy dollI WAS HAPPY TO GET THE LUCY DOLL, BUT WAS DISSAPPOINTED IN THE BOX IT IS IN , IT IS DAMAGE ON THE BOTTOM AND THE SIDE. IT IS A COLLECTIBLE DOLL AND I NEEDED IT TO BE IN GREAT SHAPE WHEN I RECEIVED IT.
A MUST HAVE for Lucy CollectorsAn incredible likeness to everyone's favorite redhead, this Barbie is perfect for the I LOVE LUCY collector and fan. The episode was hilarious, with Lucy buying a vacuum cleaner, Fred buying a washing machine, and Ricky a fridge! The laughs were non-stop as one fumbling mishap after another keeps the Ricardo's and Mertz's bickering the entire time. Lucy wears this pretty polka dot house dress and the details of hairdo, backdrop of the apartment and even her facial expression are wonderfully accurate. Treat yourself to this one of a kind collectible. The first dolls in this limited edition series are long gone and hard to find -- don't let this one get away!
Peels and slices, cuts and dices...I absolutely love "I Love Lucy" and have eagerly collected each of the Barbie dolls issued by Mattel in the Lucy series. This one is exceptionally nice as it features Lucy Ricardo dressed as she was in so many episodes, as a typical New York housewife. She is wearing her navy dress with white polka dots and a white apron with red rick rack trim.
Of course, this is the classic episode in which Lucy purchases the worthless Handy Dandy Kitchen Helper, prompting Ricky to accuse her of having no sales resistance. To her credit, Lucy does attempt to return the worthless item but the salesman is just too persuasive and ends up selling her a more expensive vacuum cleaner instead. In one very funny scene, Lucy goes door-to-door in an attempt to sell the vacuum to some other gullible housewife. Unfortunately she has no luck. She returns to the apartment exhausted and minus one shoe and tells Ricky that a few hours more and someone would have reported the death of another salesman. Lucy then leaves it up to Ricky to deal with returning the vacuum cleaner to the salesman and he soon discovers that he, too, is "putty in this man's hands." :)
The photo/tableau in the box is taken from the living room of the Ricardo's apartment. Lucy is standing with the fireplace to one side ( with the Kitchen Helper sitting atop the mantel) and the vacuum cleaner on the other. A very, very nice addition to the series!

WHAT A HORRIBLE GIFT!!Giving this as a gift is like giving a kid a drumset, only this is worse because your child has to have an audience for it to be any fun, so the rest of the family is captive to a loud, not necessarily very musical performances. You can't hide this one out in the garage.
Additionally, if your child, like mine, is not particularly outgoing, musically inclined or self-confident, this is a self-esteem trasher. Within the first fifteen minutes my daughter was in tears because it sounded so bad.
This machine came with one cdg, with 4 songs on it that no one in our house was familiar with. In order for this to be a fun toy we would have had to spend additional money for cdgs of songs she is familiar with.

Don't buy it!I bought this toy as a Christmas gift for my nephews. The thing never worked. The video has a terrible flicker. After 2 hours, back to the box and never came out again.
singing starWe purchased this machine last Christmas as a present for our daughter. She loved it. Since the purchased, she has enjoyed singing in her room as well as performing for the family. I have my own karaoke machine. But, she loved the idea of having two wireless microphones because she gets to singalong together with her dad. Since we made the purchase in November of 2004, our 11 yrs old daughter has begun to sing solo songs at our church. I which that we can purchased gospel CDGs for her Karoake machine or where we can purchased more musical CDGs as Christmas presents for our daughter this coming Christmas of 2005. Need Help for our "singing star" who loves to sing. This Karaoke machine has been and still is a blessing for our 11 yrs old daughter. "I think her singing future looks bright".

Poison Ivy is poisonous for the brain!Hello, my name is Alexandrea Marie Anna Bunitorisua and i am reviewing Poison Ivy Barbie. I think that this doll is very ugly and wrong. What are toys trying to teach children these days?!? That it is fine to graduate schools? Girls should stay home and help their mothers until they are four teen, and then they get married and have children at fifteen. These dolls are very bad for young girls because they make it seem like girls can particapate in sports, which they cannot. That is my opinion and i hope you follow by it. its true.
Tacky BeautyAnother gorgeous Comic Book Barbie! This is so far my favorite out of the "Pink Box" line of Comic Barbies (DC Direct's CatWoman gets #1!). The thick, wavey bright red hair is so soft & beautiful and the face sculpt & paint are awesome (look at those sinister eyebrows)! The costume is absolutely fabulous, and as another comment said, the BOOTS are to die for!!
Why do I say she is "tacky"? It's in reference to her actual body: she's ALL tacky skinned bendy body. Gross. I don't know about the rest of the adult collectors, but I just can't stand that bendy body & it's tacky surface. I have cats, and the fur just clings to the "skin"! So, I removed the head, and put it on another Barbie body with the same skin tone (not easy to find since Poison Ivy is very fair skinned). That's when I found out that her outfit will ONLY fit on the bendy body with 2 exceptions: 1. Teen Skipper/ Francie- but the boots won't fit their feet; 2. Belly Button body with hard plastic legs (like the Catwoman Barbie). I had to go buy a Delancey on Vespa doll just to get a hard-plastic body with enough of a light complection to both match the head and fit the suit... and the suit still stretched a bit going on that!
Also, the stand that comes with the doll does not hold her up properly. I had to steal a stand from a Fashion Fever doll to make Ivy stand up.
So, unless you like the full bendy-body type Barbies, and you don't mind it laying around & getting dust bunnies stuck to it, be prepared to do some work to make your Poison Ivy "user friendly". Or, leave her in the box for display :D
