    It's allot of fun but......
the skateboard is aloot of fun but it does not hold up very well. I try and keep it out of water and do everything that I am suppose to and the paint is still chipping off and the wood is still getting exposed. Once Mattel fixes that prolblem I would buy one but until them I would not reccomend them

    barbie switchboards
I bought 2 of these for my son (almost [...]) and daughter (age [...]). I like the design, and the collapsible handle is very cool. So easy to store and transport! But the durability is very bad. The finish on the edges after they got bumped started to chip on each after only one use! Looks like the inside is particle board not wood. Don't know how long these will last, but the kids are having fun with them anyway. My son loves his. My daughter gets frustrated with hers because it is difficult to steer.

one of my all time best buys
I bought two of these scooters for my (then) four and six year old children. They are still in use regularly, by my kids as well as neighborhood kids aged from 4 - 12! Although I have since bought them both more expensive and "grown up" scooters, these still get by far the most use. I actually thought when I bought them that at least my 6 year old would soon outgrow it, but for the price I thought it might be worth it. I can't think of any other toy that they still have from 3 years ago that still gets as much use as these do. These have been WELL worth the money.

My 4 yr old loves this
I have seen numerous reviews of people having trouble with programming this. First, make sure you don't accidentally press the on button right before trying to program it. If so, either put the cover plate back on and press the button again (then try or remove the batteries and reinsert. Make sure the button on the bottom stays on the number of the dvd player you are programming as you can use up to 3 players. Skipping issues are usually due to dirty/scratched disks, so handle them like any other dvd (carefully). I had an issue with accidentally hitting the on button, but it took one minute to fix. The programming took 5 minutes and it worked perfectly.

My son loves this. He was already starting to read and this has excited him even more (especially since I got a lot of other stories including his favorite "Green Eggs and Ham"). Some disks have better games than others. He likes the games as much as the stories and reading. The words 'color up' as they are read, helping new readers see what word is being spoken. But it is fast (normal speed), so don't expect otherwise. There are also reading comprehension questions in one mode. They see if the user was paying attention to the story.

Overall this is a great toy/learning aid. I hope scholastic continues to come out with more great stories. It's the stories that are available that will make this worthwhile or not longer term as there is a limited current library.

My son is Two (will be 3 in Feb) and he was able to use this toy right out of the box.
My son received this toy as a present from his father on Christmas (Dec '05) and he was able to play with it straight out of the box. I bought my son the V Smile system and he can't use that as easily as he uses the read with me system. While a agree with some of the previous reviews that this system would not take him to seven years old, it does build his confidence level and keeps him motivated to keep playing because he was getting the answers right. While with the V smile system he prefers I play and he watch. So I am happy with this purchase and will buy more DVDs for the system. I have only one complaint and that is I wish they would use both traditional stories and use some of the newer characters. My son loves Thomas the train and even though he has the little engine that could I think he would also like to see Thomas the Tank Engine, Dora the Explorer, and maybe even some books in foreign languages. But all in all a great system for the younger preschool children.

My son gives it a 10!!
My 3 1/2 year old son received this toy for Christmas this year, and he absolutely LOVES it!! I was not sure that he would be able to play with it on his own. He impressed me right away, when with the very 1st explaination he was able to do it all by himself! I would agree with one review that it would be nice if there were a couple books on 1 DVD. However, I would highly recommend this item, it is really great!

Three old girl loves this toy.
My three year old daughter loves this doll and will sit down with her and brush her hair. She never would play with baby dolls until I bought this doll. For one week straight, she would not put the doll down. I recommend this item to all children.

We adopted our daughter, Sarah, from China just 8 months ago. Sarah turned two Feb 6th! She got a package in the mail from Uncle Tracy, Aunt Cindy, and cousins Crystal and Ashley. It was a Sonya Lee doll with CD! Sarah really loves Sonya Lee! It is the cutest doll with Asian features! It has a soft body and soft plastic head with black hair and a pink ribbon! Sonya Lee comes with a DVD and a backpack with her cat. Too adorable!

                  Great System
I bought this for my 2yr old. Although the age group states its for older children, my son still has tons of fun with this system. This book is his favorite and he likes to read it at least 2-3 times per day. It is so neat that nearly every picture on the page can make a sound or tell you what it is. He learns lots of new words and is so excited about books. He loves the fact that Elmo is somewhere on every page. We have so much fun with this book and the whole system. He also has the leap frog system but reaches for this one first.
I would caution not to purchase if you don't intend on supervising closely. He is very rough on the pages and they come out and get torn pretty easily and this happened while I was watching him closely.

My son loves playing with this book
My two year old son received a PowerTouch system for his birthday. According to the age recommendations he is too young for the system, but he figured out what to do very quickly, and his vocabulary has certainly been widened since he began playing with the system.

Our son's favorite book is "Elmo's Noisy Day" -- Elmo and Zoe go all around Sesame Street with jars and bottles in which they collect all the noises they hear. On one page they sample sounds from the jungle, on another they capture the sounds of a busy street, and they even collect some sounds from outer space! I was impressed by the variety of sounds included, and I was also impressed at how some pictures contained unexpected sounds. For example, on the first pages, the hats on a coat rack each make their own sound, related to the profession each hat is associated with. In the music store, each of the four samples of sheet music in the background produce a different tune. On the spaceship, the different buttons and levers make different beeps and squawks.

When my son sits down with this book, he will page through and play with it for 20 minutes or so at a time. He has suprised me with some of the new words he has learned by hearing them in the book -- he casually pointed out the tuba for me the other day by name! I can't speak to the counting or spelling functions of the book - we just use it for the story, for music and sounds, and for naming objects. Some of the pages are beginning to get a little ragged with use, but since my son is two I am sure he is handling it a little more roughly than an older child would.

I would recommend this book for the Power Touch system because of the great variety of information a child can get from any page, and for the educational value of the information presented, especially for a younger child (2 or 3 years old).
