LEGO Star Wars: Jabba's Palace

    Where's the Rancor?!
This is a fun little playset. It's a little more reminiscent of the Harry Potter sets than it is typical Star Wars fare (i.e. playset vs. model), but it's still not disappointing. Well... to be honest... I have two small complaints. In order to TOTALLY COMPLETE this set, you also need to buy "Jabba's Prize" and "Jabba's Message". Sneaky, George, sneaky. (Or is that the Lego company being sneaky? Heh heh)

And then, below the actual working trapdoor, the playset opens up to reveal... a big empty space devoid of a Rancor. So, Luke falls through the trap door, but what's gonna try to eat him?

If they come out with another set called "Jabba's Rancor" (or "Jabba's Big Nast Pet"), first I'll scream... then I'll probably buy it.

    Sigh.

Other than the hilarious take on the Slave Leia minifigure (you've never seen Leia like THIS), this set also includes Luke (in mysterious black, Emperor-like robe), a "Gonk" Droid, a Bo'marr monk spider/droid, the supervisor droid, and of course, Jabba himself in all his plastic, non-CGI glory.

Oh, just buy it and build your own Rancor!

    Jabba the Hutts Palace
This Lego is one of the best Lego sets I have seen in years. This set includes Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Slave form, Jabba the Hutt, and two driods that I have no clue what the names are. This set has tons of cool things like a trap door, moving stairs, moving gates, and moving walls for more fun. The only thing is that this set didn't come with the Rancor monster they even didn't sell it seperitly. But other then that this set is good.

    weapons galore!
This set has all sorts of hidden weapons on it. One of the droids has 4 samurai swords, you can use the torches as spiky staff, Jabba can be used as a giant man-eating slug, and if this is your first big lego base, arm Luke and Leia each with 2 samurai swords. Other than that, this is an all around good base.

Add this Lego kit to your collection
Lego has done it again. They created a fun, somewhat educational toy that will last a lifetime. The only problem I see is that it is sometimes hard to get the small Lego blocks apart.

Great design, with many clever features
The Lego Alpha Team series is essentially "James Bond", or perhaps "Mission: Impossible". Ogel is an evil "Bond villain" character who is trying to take over the world. He has numerous skeleton minions who do his bidding as he builds and operates high-tech gadgets to aid him in his bid for global domination. Alpha Team is a team of top secret agents who use high-tech gadgets and cool vehicles as they track down Ogel and try to stop him.

During their first outing, Alpha Team stopped Ogel from using mind control orbs to take over the world. Their second outing took them underwater in "Mission: Deep Sea". Their third outing appears to take place in the Arctic, where Ogel is using ice orbs in an attempt to freeze the entire world... or something like that. As far as the plot and story go, there's plenty of room for creativity here. Just use your imagination and make stuff up.

This set builds a mobile command center for our team of secret agents. On the scene are three Alpha Team agents, a robot, and one of Ogel's skeleton minions. We also get two ice orbs to play around with. The design on the ice orb changes when it is viewed through a red-tinted examination screen or red-tinted magnifying glass. The minifigs here are all charismatic, each with his/her own facial expression.

The command center is a large four-wheeled vehicle with a cockpit up front for a driver, a spring-loaded cannon with soft-tip missile, a working crane device for grabbing ice orbs, and a spacious command center with numerous computer panels and a laboratory for examining ice orbs. Behind the cockpit sit two snow scooters, which can be launched from the sides of the vehicle. Our secret agents are also outfitted with some equipment (walkie talkie, ice picks, binoculars). The side walls of the command center can flip down, revealing the spacious interior and increasing our play space. A clever little detail is some computer panels on the walls that can flip up to be a work area for one of the characters, with pegs for him to sit on. Another clever detail is how the walls of the vehicle snap neatly into place when closed up. This is a very well designed vehicle that is packed to the brim with action features and movable parts. Lego is usually pretty clever and inventive with their model designs. I'd say they're even more clever than usual here.

Going into the construction of this impressive vehicle are a variety of Technic and regular parts. Colors are light gray, light blue, dark blue, some white, and some black. A good blend. There are numerous transparent orange single-peg round pieces, and two transparent orange antennae. There are also some nice computer panels here. In our durability department, the vehicle holds up very well. I haven't had any problems with parts falling off. For a Lego model, the durability is above average.

This is a great Lego set that has many fun features. I'm having difficulty coming up with anything to complain about here. My verdict: thumbs way up. Alpha Team has always been solid fun, and this new series improves on the previous ones in many ways. It's a unique and inventive theme with charismatic characters and cool gadgets.

A big bang for a small buck
Lego 2006 Technic lineup features vehicles that are not only fun to play with, but also recreating technical aspects in today's construction and material handling industries. The Telehandler is no exception. For $30 US you get to build not only the telehandler, but also a front-end loader. Both models feature rear-wheel steering and very realistic functions similar to the machines they are replicating. The main model in this set has a front bucket that not only raises up and down and tilts, but also telescopes out quite far. I realize that a lot of Technic enthusiasts aren't crazy about the integration of smooth liftarms instead of the traditional studded beams, but many of the models created in the last few years look much more life-like with the smooth, curved liftarms. All in all, a good value for your money.

            LEGO Bucket beats Television
The average LEGO set discourages creativity and has limited uses, e.g., the LEGO motorcyle kit. This product sold by Amazon is a huge volume of universal LEGO pieces.
With today's smart kid's, the manufacturers may mis-estimate age applicable age ranges. Think Age 3-7 if little fingers are strong enough. Can be passed from older to younger kids.

            Stimulates Curiosity and Creativity
Have you noticed how many toys these days encourage children to just be spectators? Or predetermine exactly how the child will use the toy? One example of this is a toy that purports to be an exciting archealogical dig, but simply involves the child removing clay from an "artifact." How much skill or creativity is involved in THAT?

Legos is one of the few manufacturers that makes toys that give the child free rein to create and conceive. (Although I notice that even Legos is producing more toys that give exact instructions on what to build rather than providing pieces that can be used in multiple ways.)

My 2 1/2 year old niece loves this set. She isn't quite ready to make things that match the included instructions, but she has a lot of fun putting the bricks together and coming up with her own creations. That's how I'd rather see her play anyway, rather than building to a blueprint. She prefers these regular-size bricks to the toddler Duplo bricks.

            Horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This you call ''DARTH VADER TREANSFOMATION''of lego suck like
crap!! I recommend buying somthing thing else than this C-R-A-P. Here are the good things about this lego set it has Anakin and Darth Vader but darth vader darth vader didnt come with a lightsaber!! How stupid is that? I mean it has no moving featres [except the spinnig transform thingy] but besdse that it it just down right S-T-U-P-I-D!! Bye now

            This Set Rox!
This set is small but fun. It's cool how it has injured Anakin Skywalker and capeless (not that its a bad thing!) Darth Vader minifigs when they are in fact the same person! The dinky little Medical Droid comes with tools and you can have it drilling Anakin or Vader. Heres a little trick you can do with the minifigs:Take of the heads of the minifigs. Then put injured Anakin's head on Darth Vader's body. Have the Med Droid hold Darth Vaders helmet. Than you can do the part of the film when the helmet gets put on Vader. Good things come in small packages, and this set is no exception.

Great for young and older kids alike!
Ok, so I'm not a kid but I did see the original Star Wars (A New Hope) in theaters when I was growing up. This is a great product and for the Star Wars junkie a must have. I find myself glancing at it here and there as it sits on my desk at home. Lots of fun for less then ten bucks!
