I let my 3-year old pick this toy out for his birthday. Boy, what a mistake! This toy is not for the younger child (unless he/she is being raised as part of a pit crew for Nascar). My son was bewildered when this interactive car started barking out "change the front tires... we are going to lose the race!" What made it worse was the irritating voice kept repeating this phrase until its demands were met! Another point to make about this toy is that even though it is made of durable plastic, the car has a really tough time making its way across any kind of carpet.

Overall, this toy may be great for the older race car enthusiast but I would skip it for a younger child. And I would definitely re-think the choice if carpet is on your floor! It's not the loss of front tires that makes this car lose races... it's the fact the car has NO POWER to get across the finish line!

Do yourself a favor & skip this one... I am now having to make a trip to the store to return this thing!

My son bought this for his best friend's 4th bday and they both loved it so much that he returned the favor when my son turned 4. They love the interactive voice and the fact that they get to "work" on the car. It has been very durable and easy to use. The sound is a little loud and it does work much better on a hard floor than carpet. I would recommend this for any car enthusiast.

Pros: It's fun and easy to take apart and put back together. The two front wheels come off, as does the spoiler and engine. It also comes with a gas can and wrench. Since there are only a few parts, there is less to keep track of. My 4 year old enjoys pretending to be part of the the pit crew when playing with this car.
Cons: Not a great racing car. Goes for a short distance when the button is pushed and then stops. The car is loud, but so is NASCAR racing!

We bought this for $3 practically new at a yard sale over the summer and he loves this.

Our son is now 20 mos and about 35 lbs and sits in it(barely), on it, climbs on it, keeps his hand tools in the dumper. He pushes it around in the living room on the hardwood floor and now learned to send it accross the room with a good push.

He now loves to sit in the dumper and I push him around the room.

This is a durable truck. It's not as big as the toughest Tonka's, but it's a good size. It is a durable plastic.

I would recommend this for your 16 mos old and up

My 4 1/2 year old son as well as my 2 year old love to play with this toy. It's durable and reliable.

While this toy box is nice - let this serve as a warning! The lid is AWFUL and does not stay on. Up until today I had just left the lid open, resting against the back of the wall. My 16-month-old daughter was looking for something in her toy box and I went over to help her and the lid not only fell down but fell completely off the little "holes" that it supposedly keep it latched in and HIT ME ON THE HEAD. It was VERY painful and my head still hurts - ten minutes later! I can't imagine how painful it would be for a child. I have removed the lid and put it away - I plan on contacting the manufacturer about this. I really do think it is a danger and plan on looking at alternate toy boxes ASAP.

This is a nice toy box....I only bought it for my son because it was Little Tikes and we have always purchased that brand of toys with our children. I really like the small compartments on the sides but the main compartment is so deep that toys are "lost" and my son doesn't know they exist until I recycle the top toys to the bottom. The lid probably isn't suppose to fit snugly because of safety issues and I can live with that. I don't want my child getting "locked" inside...our lid is under the bed but will work as a cool SLED when it snows!!! Probably would not buy this toybox again...

I like the fact that the lid to this toy box comes off. It is a safety feature! If you have a toddler, I would suggest leaving the lid off so they can have easy access to their toys. Older children will have no problem lifting or removing the lid. A lid is only there to occasionally attach when you want to hide the toys inside. And unless NERF has started making toy boxes, you aren't going to find anything safer than this plastic Little Tikes toy chest.

One of the main reasons I bought this set was because it included a sand/water wheel. However, the weight of a full shovel full of sand or water will not turn the wheel. And there is no crank to turn it. It has to be turned manually. No fun.

Don't buy this toy. My 20 month old daughter lost one of her top front teeth. She was pushing it by the handle and it popped up and hit her in the mouth. It seems to have happened to more than one child.

My Son loves this truck! We have had it for almost 2 years. It still looks like new and it had taken more abuse than one would think. This is still a toy my son plays with every day. He hauls cars and blocks and anything else he can jam into the back. Yes the handle is close to the top and you can't put big things in through it, but that hasn't been a problem for him ever. He just puts toys in the door on the back or finds smaller stuff to shove through the top. Unlike some other toys where I am constantly putting doors back on the door on the back of this truck had NEVER come off and we play with it daily. I love this truck and so does my 2 1/2 yr. old.

My two-year-old received this toy for his first birthday and he's still perfectly happy with it.

Like most children his age, he likes to carry things around the house with him and the handle on this truck fits the bill perfectly.

The door at the rear of the truck opens up to allow him to load his cargo (usually his Fisher Price Little People) and haul them away. He's pretty rough on toys, but that door is still on nice and tight. It opens easily and closes completely without help from an adult. Seems like such a simple thing, but doors on toys never seem to work properly. Not true in this case.

This toy is perfectly safe. It's made of plastic with no sharp edges. There are no design flaws that I've seen in the past year. Unless you wrap your child in bubble wrap, they're going to get hurt sometimes... this toy wouldn't be the cause of an injury, so purchase with confidence.

Inexpensive toy and money well spent.
