My 4 year old received this set as a birthday gift. He wanted me to build things at first, copying the pictures that came with the product. He then sat down with me in the living room and began to copy the pictures too. He then started making his own creatures. It gives me time to do the dishes and clean up after dinner while he plays at the table. It really helps them use their imagination. I would say that $9.99 is a very reasonable price. The pieces are plastic and have held up well. The case is also a convenient storage option. My son has a blast with these kids knex and I bet most other children would too.

I am a Lego expert, but I found it really hard to build, If it was hard for me, it was really impossible for my children. The only nice thing yo�'ll get are the nice miniature characters which are not worth the price.

My 5 year old received this as a gift but it took his Uncle around 10 hours total to assemble it. It has around 26 stages of instructions and around 400 odd pieces but the main thing is it is so fragile. After assembling the base and trying to put the next level on top the whole thing collapsed. This happened 4 or 5 times. There is no way anyone under 12 could figure out how to assemble this. It looks nice when it is all finished but one touch and it falls apart. We are tempted to glue the pieces into place so it stays up permanently.

I am a Lego� Expert, and I got threw this one. I hard about the reviews and I thought it was "pish" and it was pish. The pieces stayed together if you are on a flat surface. The instructions were easy to follow. It took me 2 days to put it together. The 1st day I got it is that I was looking forward on building it, and soon I got annoyed. Why? Because I put the pieces in the wrong place. Then I took apart everything and put it together in a day, less than an hour.

This is a great toy. I do not recomend it to ages 4-9. It is too hard for them, but for me, being 11, it was easy and fun to do.

its awsome but the fangs are really bendy cuz mine already has been bended but its realy fun but its kinda fragile but fun it spinner is hard to launch and you can flip up its body and the chomping action doesn't really work to well (i already looked at the instructions three times)

We've enjoyed this toy, but it hasn't held their attention as long as I would have liked. My 4 year old is interested, but it is over quickly. I gave this a high rating because I think he will really love it in the near future when he can get more into the sophistication of the toy.

My main issue is that the white pegs that hold the gears to the blocks bend and break easily. Georello sends many extras with the pack, so it's not too much of an issue yet. I would say a definite yes for kids around the ages of 5-6, especially builders!

The toy is nice. The base pieces may not be as many as you would like to expand it more. my kid (3 yrs old) liked but I did most of the design :) It might be more expensive than I'd estimate it.

I just bought a used version of this same toy, and my 2-1/2 year old daughter loves it! She connects the blocks together to make "train tracks", sticks the gears into the blocks and spins them with her fingers, and even enjoys figuring out how to fit everything back in the plastic box we use to store it in. I'm sure this is a toy that will grow with her, as she begins to build more complex gear systems.

I love that it allows her to be creative, and the toy itself is pretty to look at, too. The blocks are also flexible enough for small fingers. I'm so happy with it that I'm considering buying another set (at full price) so she'll be able to build even bigger gear structures. An all-around great toy!

This play set is wonderful! It is easy to use and entertaining for preschool to early school age children. While kids are having fun playing, they are improving their fine motor skills and patterning. They can be creative with their own designs or learn to follow one of the included pattern cards. The set includes 3 bits for use with the drill or screwdriver handle and 5 different colored large screws. The drill has forward, off, and reverse settings and makes drill sounds at a reasonable volume. Overall a great buy.

I have resisted buying these because they seemed so cheap...also the usual question we parents always ask ourselves..."What are they going to do with them?"

My son received his first bionicle from a friend on his ninth birthday...it was cleverly the "bow" on a birthday present. I now regret overlooking this wonderful line of "lego's" for so long! My boys love these! They have the best time building them and an even better time playing with them.

They are priced reasonably so you can always pick-up one as a treat during trips out "shopping". If you encourage your children to "save-up" for some of their "wants", the cost of these is low enough that it doesn't take them months and months to realize their goal.

Please do not make the same mistake I made and misjudge these toys. You will be denying your child a great experience.
Although the manufacturer suggests ages 7 and up, I do not feel a child younger than 8 or 9 would be able to independently put this toy together. My 7 year old needs some help putting these together, but he loves to try all by himself. That is the point of Lego's, to construct and play. The primary benefit, in my opinion, is the satisfaction of "doing it" yourself!

A definate A+ for our boys!

Yes, irunis mask lets him teleport. But anyway, He is the first toa to have a staff (Besides takanuva, of course!) and has and awesome sheild. Want more? His staff/spinner heals other things. He is also built odd. Rahkshi legs as his legs, and toa legs as his arms! He is a totally great addition to the toa, and is a MUST for all bionicle fans. (But dont build him in the car! I lost pieces that way!)

Toa Iruini

Canister: It's a gold capped Hordika can. I persioally like it. The gold edges are a nice change. He's also the first "extra" Toa to be in a canister. Very nice. Notice the "Lego system of play 50th Anniversery" logo. 10/10

Building: Mostly a Toa Metru but it takes some interesting changes. It's easy enough. 9/10

Parts: I love recoloured parts, and if you do also, this set is for you! Gold Gahlock Kal shield, gold chronichler's staff, green Rahkshi legs, what more can you ask for? Also, the Kualsi is a great design. The shield is huge though. 10/10

Posability: It's Toa Metru posability except the Toa Metru legs for arms limits posability just a tiny bit. Still great as always. Lego also made only one arm that swings up and down. 9/10

Playability: He's very posable, has a shiny mask, what else does a kid want? But the Rhotuka shield is not the best launcher and The green spinner falls out alot. 8/10

Value: Definately hit's the mark. Actually I wouldn't be upset if it werre $9.99. 10/10

Overall: Toa Iruini is a great piece to add to your collection and kids will love it. Also, the gold parts will make you really happy. 10/10
