My child received this for Christmas and was so excited because he loves the Ninja Turtles. When we went to put it together, I found this to be the most frustrating toy ever! First of all, any toy with 290 very small pieces is really not something that the average 5 year old (yet alone an average 10 year old) can handle so this is definitely a toy that an adult needs to put together - if they can! My husband who can put ANYTHING together washed his hands of the whole project after an hour and a half of unsuccesfully trying to stick the pieces together. The design is bad, the pieces don't stick together (maybe they're too small???), and the diagram is 28 pages long! I give this toy 2 thumbs down!

I bought this toy for my 6-year-old for his birthday. First of all, I do have a spatially gifted child, and he couldn't build this set without a lot of help. The pieces don't stick together well, and the diagrams were not as clear as I would have liked. There are a lot of small pieces which could have been combined into a larger piece to make it a little easier. I would say this is a better toy for 8 and up, rather than 6 and up. The ooze means it needs to be played with on a table or hard surface, but if it falls, be prepared to spend quite a bit of time putting it back together. I did end up with some odd pieces, but that isn't a problem for me.

I liked the concept, and I do feel that there is educational value to putting the toy together, so it's not a terrible toy. I wouldn't recommend it for younger kids, however, as there are lots of tiny pieces. This is also not a good Mega Bloks piece for the easily frustrated (kids OR parents). The stickers that go over more than one piece on the truck annoy me too, as they can rip if the truck comes apart. It's not the worst purchase I've made, but I won't be buying anything else from the Mega Bloks Turtles line.

This is a decent Ninja Turtles building set, but it suffers from a few design features that make things more difficult than they should be. The scene is a highway overpass. The turtles' Battle Shell van is present, and it can fit under the overpass. We also get two of the Ninja Turtles (Michelangelo and Leonardo), two footsoldiers, and a skateboard. Each of the turtles has his own unique weapon. Also included is a tub of ooze that can be dumped over on those nasty evil ninjas.

Mega Bloks usually does a great job with their minifigs, and the Ninja Turtles collection is no exception. These are some great minifigs, with awesome detail and textures. The turtles and their weapons are great! The addition of the skateboard is a nice touch. Your turtle of choice can ride it and perform all kinds of stunts on a sculpted base plate with ramps.

The Battle Shell van is pretty good, constructed from a good variety of green pieces. It has an opening hatch on the top so a figure can fit in the driver's seat, and an opening hatch in the back. Adding detail to this vehicle are numerous stickers that must be applied to the sides of the van. Most of these stickers connect two or more of the parts together. If you want to take it apart, you're stuck with two pieces held together by a sticker on one side. This leaves quite a bit to be desired. I had to cut some of the stickers in two so that I could apply them to the vehicle and be able to take it apart later without messing up the stickers (the point of building toys is to build it, take it apart, build it again). This glaring fault aside, the Battle Shell van is good.

The set piece is problematic. It has some green and brown base plates from the Dragons series, which are used to support the highway overpass. Getting one of these base plates to stick to the larger sculpted base plate took some doing. The smaller green and brown base plates were not originally designed with this in mind. They stick to each other well, but they don't perform very well when applied to a larger base plate. Also, the overpass (black plates) require careful assembly. Other than that, the set piece is pretty decent. Structurally, it's kind of fragile. The Battle Shell van is solid. Once assembled, it doesn't fall apart.

This set is a mixed bag. If you ignore the decorative stickers for the van and don't mind putting some effort into carefully assembling the set piece, it's all good. My verdict: one thumb up, one thumb down. A decent set that has a few glaring faults.
