I think Huck is an important Breyer simply because he marked a change in the quality and craftmanship that the company displays. I mean to say that before this model it was not standard for Breyers to have hollowed frogs, detailed ears or such dynamic poses. Having open windows in the mane and tail was also an exciting change for the company but somehow leaves me missing the more realistic, and simplistic, manes of the past models instead of all these bits, points and flowing locks going every which way.

However, I think that Moody deviated from from Breyers usual standard of realism when designing her tribute to the famous Huckleberry Bey. Moody, in my opinion, has a tendency to give her horses too much human emotion. Their faces are in no way horse like. In this case, Huck looks enough like a horse to pass for a horse toy but he's simply too false. Too cartoony. He's more of a comical exaggeration of a horse than an accurate depiction.

He's not really fit for play. His ears and tail in particular are very fragil. His plastic stand is easily lost and even with it he only sort of stands squarly. He may be more prone to falls than his owner may like.

He's good enough for display but with his severe lack of realism, why not just get a more accurate model?

I am a Breyer Collector, and this is one of my favorite pieces. Having a connection to this horse, it ment so much to me to be able to receive him. He is my most favorite, and most delicate. Having said that, I think he is in no way in any resemblance to an Arabian. He only slightly resembles the real Huckleberry Bey. This "toy" is educational because it talks about the past of a very famous horse.

Getting away from the factual, I'd like to talk about the artistic. His mane is wonderful, and so is his tail, but they are a bit overdone. It does resemble a real pose of his, but the tail was solid, not in tid-bits of curls. He has a nice sheen to him though, giving him a soft glow in the right light. He's very hard to draw though, I am yet to master him -.-

I don't reccomend him for [young] children, because his ears hurt, and are VERY sharp. He doesn't stand well, and without his plastic stand he is almost useless.

This is a wonderful model, VERY detailed and SO beautiful! I think it looks 98% as real as the real Huckleberry Bey. This is a definate must for any arabian/horse luver!

I thought this toy was stupid and a waste of money and i did not like it. I bought this for my 30 year old son and he enjoyed it very much,until it broke, but i did not, you see, he was training for the superbowl and he thought that he could throw him across the field (he didnt make it) when we went over to see it, his arm fell off on the grass and his head was cracked. Timmy (my son) begged me to go to the "hospital" to get him fixed. All in all A STINKY TOY (coming from timmy)

This is a great buy to add to the Bratz collection. I got it for my dtr & can't wait until her birthday to give it to her. She usually doesn't like the boys because she doesn't like the hair being stiff, but how can you not like him? He is adorable! It will go great with her collection.

I thought this was REALLY fun to paint. It isnt durable at all, though. It is made out of different material than regular breyers (kind of glass like). So don't buy this if you want to play with it afterwords. I accidently gave mine a REALLY light touch to a chair, and the leg came off. But it is VERY fun to paint!

I purchased the Breyer Horse paint kit for my 8-year old grand-daughter. As a horse rider and horse lover, she planned out how she was going to paint her horse, took her time, changed her mind, took her time!! She had fun in doing this kit. Although not artist-perfect, she was very proud to add her "own" Breyer to her Breyer horse collection. Will be purchasing another one for this year as well.

Don't mind Sour puss here. Breyer's kits are fun and enjoyable they teach you how the model painters feel when they paint their models. Breyer's kits bring out the professional in you to paint a horse. It's dosen't matter how bad you think it it is a childhood tresure to chrish forever.
