This game is really POPULAR right now and here's why
One of my sons works with teens and this game has been the HOTTEST thing around lately. Because of that, my adult son got hooked on it and he then showed his younger brother how to play.

Since then, it has been a hit with the kids in the neighborhood, everyone from 8 years old and up (although I do think it is best geared to 10 years old and up... but this particular 8 year old is pretty smart). The game has won both educational and strategy game awards but the best thing about it is that it is truly entertaining and FUN for both chidren and adults. It is a great alternative to video games, especially on days when outdoor play is difficult or impossible due to bad weather.

                Anyway, here's the basic info:

You first put together these very detailed sailing ships. A CAUTION HERE: It is possible to snap some parts if you don't proceed slowly and carefully the first couple of times but you'll get the hang of it quickly. Just be aware of that risk.

Then the fun begins as you navigate your ships through the waters, fending off attacks and trying to collect gold. Each pack includes two different ships, rules, an island card, die, etc. There are now expander and booster packs too.

For a very small amount of initial money, you can be playing this game immediately and as other kids start collecting their ships, it doesn't take long to have a pretty intense game going on. For the older kids and adults, there are competitions as well.

But don't say I didn't warn you...this game can be quite addictive!

                Avast me Hearties!
Grab your cutlass and prime the cannons it's family game night!

My wife bought this for me as a joke (LOL) to put in my stocking for Christmas. After opening it and reading the game instructions it sounded like fun. So my 13 yr old son and I sat down to play. It is a lot of fun. Mostly a strategy game, where he/she with the most booty wins.

This tin is a steal. You get 4 packs, which sell at the local toy store for about $4.99 each. You do the math.

If you like pirates (and who doesn't), and you want to spend time with your child away from video games (I do like them too) . . . GET THIS TIN. Half the fun is putting them together, then it's time to hoist the mainsail and off to treasure island or some cannon fire against those other scurvies!

I do not recommend this game for younger children beacuse of the small pieces and the ships are kind of fragile (Not too though).

Take it from an old salt, swab those decks, weigh your anchor, hoist your sails and make way for some fun!
                Aaaaaarrrggghh!

                  Great Little Dora Figure
I bought this for my two year old who loves Dora. She takes this to bed with her every night. I can hear her at night before she goes to sleep talking to Dora.

                  Hmm...now ain't that a weird picture?
Well, obviously, the picture for this item is wrong. But the young Obi-Wan and Darth Maulester 2 pack is one of the most anticipated sets of this line of figures, no question. Darth Maulester was previously only available in some stupid Naboo playset, which fetches for over fifty bucks on certain auction sites. But now, you can finally get him for a good price! It's unfortunate that they packaged him with the wussy, younger Obi-Wan. Yeah, I know it makes sense since that's who offed him in the movies and all, but face it- young Obi-Wan looked like a darsh in the movies, and even darshier as a plastic figure. Personally, I have the older Obi-Wan set up with Maul on my shelf, making it look less comedic.

Both figures here can move their weapon-holding hands. Other than that, they're both stuck in their poses. What's with that in the Galactic Heroes line-up lately? The figures used to be able to move both arms at first, then they started to get less and less action-oriented as more came out. The detail on young Obi-Wan is as good as you can get for a boring character. I mean, he's mostly flesh, brown, and a vanilla malt-ish color. Young Obi-Wan never did make for good figures. Remember the very first one from Episode I? Yeah, that's what I thought. Let's just forget he even comes with Maul and see him as a bonus figure for when you buy the Sith lord, eh? Maul has some great detail- all the horns are here, he has a little cloth robe thing going on outside of the molded plastic one, and his double bladed lightsaber looks cool for its size. And hey- he looks like an angry baby, just like the Mace Windu one! The face markings are fairly accurate as well.

While this is a cool set, and it's good to see that they're re-releasing some of the harder to get ones, I can't help but wonder if they'll step into the "expanded universe". If I ever get news of an Asajj Ventress Galactic Heroes figure, I will flip out and buy it in bulk. Maul's a step in the right direction, even if he comes with a then-lame Jedi. Pick this one up before it's sold out again.
