Too expensive!
The hair tangles immediately - it is fine, not like MLP hair. Within one day, it was one big mess!! You can't brush it out like MLP hair, either!
The hair falls out! One tug of the brush, and ...clump! It's out!
Only the face has a smell, and it's not good.
The doll doesn't fit.
I threw the wasteful cardboard things immediately.
The hair bands won't double...and they don't work as is!

We got the Honey Pie Pony for my daughter for her 3rd birthday. When she opened it she said with great excitement "Yeah, Honey Pie Pony!!". She loves it. The Pony is cute and sturdy, the card board accessories are all ready in the trash though. She loves the barrets and pony tail holders that came with it so she can do her hair. The thing that bothers me is that the box says the Strawberry Shortcake dolls can sit on the pony, but they can not. She has not even tried to put the dolls on the pony, so it does not bother her. She got the pony along with the Strawberry Shortcake house and she loves them both.

HONEY PIE IS GREAT BUT THE PAPER ACCESSORIES UNNECCESSARY! THROW THE PAPER TOYS AWAY BEFORE YOUR CHILD SEES THEM!

I love SSC, but this is just a huge disapointment! for $29.99 no way is it worth the price! It hardly comes with ANYTHING and the quality is sooooo cheap! I am returning mine!!

IN TOYS R US THIS SET CURRENTLY SELLS FOR $15.00! SO BUY IT IN THE STORE. I BOUGHT IT BEFORE THE SALE BECAUSE WE WANTED FURNITURE FOR OUR STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE HOUSE. IF YOU HAVE THE FISHER PRICE LOVING FAMILY DOLLHOUSE YOU CAN ALSO DO WHAT WE DID AND LET STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE AND HER FRIENDS BORROW ALL THE PINK FURNITURE AND ACCESSORIES! JUST A TIP.

I really do not understand this at all. This toy falls apart every time the door opens. I get so sick of my daughter coming to me asking me to put it back together that I finally just put it away. One thing is, it's easy to store, when it's all taken apart.

I bought this toy for my five year old daughter. Her three year old sister and her loved to play with it for about thirty seconds. My five year old finally asked if it could go away because she was tired of putting it back together. Her ponies now live in the strawberry shortcake house with her....

This toy seems to hold my 4 yr old's intertest well, but it is not very durable at all. It kept falling apart so I actually bought some model glue and glued all the parts together. Now you can't open it up, but I no longer have a teary eyed little girl coming to me with the pieces in her hands.

This toy stinks!!! My daughter received this for her 3rd birthday yesterday, and was SOOO excited to put it together to play. So, my friend and I spent about an hour trying to figure it out. It is a pain to put together, and falls apart if you touch it. It comes with no dolls, and I can't find them anyway to buy them. For today, my daughter has put my vintage Smurf figurines in to play - they actually fit quite well. But, I have a feeling this toy will be forgotten very soon. My advice - Do NOT BUY IT!!!!

Every review posted about this item is right on the money! This SSC castle is the biggest piece of crap I have ever purchase next to the Pony castle in 2004. I cant believe I wasted $40 on this. I have since won the original house from the 80's on that famous auction site for $150 and the quality blows away this crap that they making today. And the new SSC dolls are almost impossible to find in retail stores. I also got almost all of the vintage SSC dolls in the famous auction site too, for LESS than the new crappy dolls are selling for. I too made the mistake in pitching the box. I am going to complain to my credit card company because they quarantee piece of crap defective purchases. I am also complaining to the manufacturer of this garbage. This garbage should be recalled!! Dont waste your money! Knowing now what crap this is, I would not pay $1 for it at a yard sale!

My mom insisted on buying this for my daugther for Christmas. I told her the reviews weren't good, I wish she would have listened. Everything you will read in these reviews is exactly true. This toy is a complete waste of money. Not to mention, the dolls that go with it are impossible to find. I would like to know how this toy even made it to production, but some people are getting rich off of this. I just hope anyone who looks at buying this changes their mind fast!

My 3 year old got this for a Christmas present. She chose to play with it for the first time on a night she had a babysitter. Not only were there no directions but she was extremely disappointed to find no dolls. We have been in search of them for 3 weeks now and cannot seem to find dolls anywhere.

My daughter received this toy as a gift for Christmas 2004. We had quite a time finding furniture and accessories to go with it. I felt like I had won the lottery when I stumbled upon the last of each of the three furniture sets at a toy store. We bought most of the dolls on online auction. We love the Bandai Strawberry Shortcake products, especially the dolls which are virtually non-existant now that they are out of production. My four year old will play with her "Stawberries" for well over an hour at a time. I almost cried when I saw the new Strawberry Shortcake dolls manufactured by Playmates. (They don't look a thing like Strawberry Shortcake.) This house is worth the money, though we have had a few problems. The window flower boxes pop off from time to time but are easily popped back into place. Last week the latch broke, but in all fairness we had had it for over a year with no problems in that area and I was attempting to force it closed during a whirlwind tidying up session and part of it snapped off. My daughter seldom attempts to close it and hasn't even noticed the broken latch. She still plays with it all the time. My biggest criticism of this product isn't with the product itself. I just can't believe that they produced such tremendous quantities of these (they were stacked high in toy and dicount stores during the holidays of 2004) while producing such a scarcity of the furniture sets and dolls. People went to stores after Christmas to buy furniture and dolls and found nothing but filles and the mermaid line of dolls, with an occassional plaid clad Strawberry. What was Bandai thinking? They should have released another supply of Strawberry and her friends in their traditional outfits for all the little girls who found Berry Happy Homes under the tree that year. I cannot help but wonder if production and marketing mistakes such as these were the reason behind Bandai's loss of the contract to produce the Strawberry Shortcake toys. Regardless, the whole thing stinks. The new Playmates dolls are nothing short of ridiculous and I refuse to buy them. If I were you I would buy this house since what is left of the Bandai products is disappearing fast and the Playmates people are obviously pretty braindead about what Strawberry Shortcake should look like.

I recently brought this house for my 2 1/2 year old that is crazy over Strawberry Shortcake. It is a really cute house with plenty to keep her busy for hours and she loves the fact that she can take it and her dolls with her when we go somewhere. I was disappointed that it is impossible to get any of the extra furniture that is shown on the back of the box and I am not paying $60 and up for what they are going a set on eBay when they sold for just $17.00 a set in the stores. It is a real shame what they did to the new dolls that came out made by Playmate this year. They do not even look like the Strawberry Shortcake we have all grown to love over the years. This house is worth the money if you already have the dolls that were made by Bandai that are 5.5 inches, because if you don't they are getting really hard to find except on eBay.

This case is useless. It came with a very small strawberry shortcake pendant (and no chain to actually wear it). I did purchase some figures for this and they do not fit it properly. They only fit in the compartments if they are lying down. The compartments fall out too easily also. My daughter rec'd this for Christmas and it has sat on a shelf and not been played with at all.

When I ordered this playset I thought it had "dolls" and would have items in it to actually use. It had one tiny strawberry shortcake doll and that was it. It was pretty much a carrying case for all the other stuff that we have not obtained yet. My daughter just looked at me like, "what do I do with this?" big dissapointment for her and me. Somewhat misleading in the product description.

i got this as a gift, and when i did i ripped it open and loved it right away. unfortunatly, my little sister got to it, swollowed 12 beadS...... and............HOSPITAL RUN!!!!!!!

My daughter (four year old) got this set of beads for Christmas last year, and we are STILL making bracelets and necklaces. All of her little friends enjoy coming over and making jewelry with their Strawberry Shortcake beads. The beads are large enough for little fingers to handle without too much trouble and the colors are bright and fun. One word of caution, however... the box doesn't stay latched very well. We've picked up hundreds of beads out of the floor more than once.

My daughter LOVES to bead with this Bead Box! Granted, she's almost 5, and good with very small motor skills. Because of all of the tiny beads, you definitely don't want to give it to a child under about 4, some of the beads are practically microscopic! We've accidentally knocked the whole thing over twice now, and it was a pain to get cleaned up, but my daughter took the opportunity to organize it just the way she wanted, so she's even happier now with it. Definitely a good investment!

My daughter absolutely LOVES her backpack! She is just turning 4, and though is it rather large for her, she wears it without any problems--we just don't make it too heavy for her. It is a full sized backpack, not a dinky thing, which is actually a good thing for kindergarteners and grade schoolers. And it is also very durable, made out of strong canvas. There are two side pockets on either side of the bag, one that closes over with velcro, and one that stays open for easier access. Inside the front pocket, the one decorated with Strawberry Shortcake, there are even slot-pockets to put pencils and notes in. The biggest pocket has loads of space for books. If your daughter loves Strawberry Shortcake, this is definitely a great item to get for her. Strong, but absolutely adorable!

This Strawberry Shortcake backpack is very cute. My 5 year old daughter loves it and so do I. It holds alot of stuff, is pretty (Strawberry is wearing a fancy dress). She also has the matching lunch bag which she enjoys as well. The backpack is presently dirty and wet but that is not the manufacturer's fault. My daughter put it on the floor while on the school bus and it got dirty there. All in all, it is a good backpack for a reasonable price.

I purchased this for daughter for preschool and we were so excited when this arrived it is just adorable. She loves it. Strawberry Shortcake's skirt is actually raised on the backpack and just so feminine and pretty!
Seems durable so far. Your child will love this!

I always loved Strawberry Shortcake while growing up in the 1980s, even though I only had *one* Strawberry Shortcake doll that was missing all of clothes except for her hat and striped stockings. So as I got older I began collecting the older Strawberry Shortcake Dolls (by Kenner) as well as all other products such as lunchboxes, cups, pins, cotton ball containers, etc. So when Bandai reissued the new Strawberry Shortcake a few years ago, I was excited yet disappointed since the new versions of the doll looked nothing like the original ones from the 1970s-1980s. However, I started collecting them too. Then I began to notice a trend. Each week there was a different Strawberry Shortcake doll being sold- the SAME exact doll only wearing a DIFFERENT outfit. It was becoming ridiculous. Orange Blossom, the only Black friend of Strawberry Shortcake, was available in every edition of Strawberry Shortcake until recently. Bandai had a problem with that and Orange Blossom began being excluded a lot from the newer line of dolls. As if young Black girls don't play with Orange Blossom! Eventually, I stopped buying the new Strawberry Shortcake and I have given away to charity most of the newer dolls I had bought (like I said before- it was always the same doll wearing a different outfit). So now I hear Bandai has lost the rights to Strawberry Shortcake and Playmate is issuing the doll. These dolls look like s1uts and are competing for street corners with the Bratz. I don't see these newer Strawberry Shortcake dolls being collectables at all. If you're an SS collector, skip these newer dolls at all costs. I'm telling you, it's not worth it.

I can't believe some of the reviews I've been reading. I grew up with Strawberry Shortcake dolls as well, but we can't live in the past. I bought dolls for my two daughters the last couple of years, and they haven't been that interested until the new 6.5 inch doll came out. Yes, they may be competing with other dolls that are out there but let's face it, that's what the kids want. My 4 and 7 year old daughters love these dolls so much that they are playing with them almost everyday. Now, they even play with the older version dolls and pretend that they are the children and the new dolls are the teenagers. My favorite doll is Lemon Merinque. She smells so yummy!

these dolls are sweet.i have 2 from the collection.they are displayed on a bookshelf in my home.
