Misinformation in the "Editorial Review"
Go is goodWe like this game. The instructions are clear and play can begin quickly after reading them with out a lot of refering back. The wooden board is sturdy, but the plastic pieces feel a little cheesey. It would be nice if the game came with a couple small pouches to keep the playing pieces separate.
Its the durable, aesthetically pleasing Go boardI bought mine some years ago, just the box art tells you what you will find, the board is ample, the beads are plastics but very solid, the wood is supreme... I noticed it was out-of-stock for some years, good to see it back
If you are looking for a durable Go board, this is a good choise

Come On Down?!There is just so much going on with the success of DVD games in the toy market these days. Nevertheless, the feeling of placing games on DVD has not always been as smooth and strong as you would definitely expect. That also has been the case with placing game shows nto the home game market too. With game shows like Name That Tune, Password and Family Feud having that as a board game isn't really all what it is cracked up to be. That also can be said for The Price Is Right too. The most popular game show in daytime television and on CBS has always had a difficulty of placing games into that measure. Now that longtime game show is being placed on the DVD board game. Can this be just as good as the show on television?
The Price Is Right DVD game, gives a beautiful and actual simulated experience of actually being in the studio where The Price Is Right is. The game shows that beautifully with the graphics and textures from spinning the big wheel, to a drop of a single plinko chip, and even displays the original themes that have made it a game show legend. The DVD features a dozen games from Price Is Right's lineup that are elegantly detailed including Grand Game, Cliffhangers, Plinko, Pass The Buck, Most Expensive, Golden Road, and Safe Crackers to name a few. The games still have a lot of fun, and also are shown beautifully. That also shows with actually stills of prizes, the Barker beauties', and the products that are highlighted from the show itself.
While the design is great, there are a few disadvantages to The Price Is Right as well. One of the biggest disadvantages is that there are just too few pricing games shown. Classic games like It's In The Bag, Squeeze Play, Three Strikes, Secret X, and Hit Me aren't really highlighted here at all. Although, it is just difficult just to display all of them onto one game alone. Another problem is that you hear different announcers describe each of the items on the show from Rich Fields, to Burton Richardson who worked on the Family Feud DVD game, to even the late Rod Roddy who died in 2003 from colon cancer. Not only that but Bob Barker, the host of Price Is Right isn't highlighted here either. Instead, Todd Newton, the host of GSN's Whammy: The All New Press Your Luck is the DVD M.C. here. Nevertheless, Todd does deliver well as a substitue host.
Despite all that The Price Is Right DVD game isn't all that bad, but I just wish there was just so much more to play around with in the process. That is just the main problem. Still, if you haven't seen The Price Is Right on television, or if you haven't played any of the games, than his would be a great buy. As for die hard fans of the show, you're just better off taping it everyday instead.

Good...not greatThe game itself is actully pretty good. You can go through the entire Price is right game or you can just go to each section. Like if you just wanted to do the pricing games, there's that option or you can do the showcase showdown etc...
There are times that the graphics of the game lag, which is kind of odd since to me since I wasn't playing it on a computer, but on my DVD player.
The pricing games are 'random' but you do tend to get some of the same games more than other games.
You can technically play this game by yourself, but it's obviously going to be more fun the more people you have.

Price is almost rightI really enjoy the game & so do my grand kids, especially Plinko. It's great fun & just like on TV. The only problem is that there are not enough variables in the games and after awhile you know the prices. It's a little repetitive. I give it 4 stars over all.

Gorgeous, Professional Looks and CheapEvery time someone sees me playing chess with this board the first thing they say is "Wow; that must have cost you a couple of dollars." And the beauty of it is that it did not. For only $20.00 I own one of the most beautiful chess sets I have seen without having to purchase a collectors item.
SIMILAR SETS COST OVER $100.00. Believe me, I am a board game collector.
The pieces are large, something that chess aficionados will appreciate. They are finely crafted solid wood pieces with felt bottoms.
The wooden board folds in half and you may store the pieces in it. It has a magnetic closure that will keep your pieces safe in place. When opened the little metal thingy that keeps the board together will raise the board a quarter of an inch in the middle but only the pickiest will mind.
We use this chess set officially in our tournaments which will play three times a year.
Any who, if you are searching for an impressive chess set that's cheap but looks expensive, this is it.
May you enjoy your new set, I know I will.

perfect simple chess setThis is good quality simple chess set that is easy to cart around. I look around locally for something just like this and could not find one this quality and for this price anywhere. Very pleased with my purchase.
Mighty fine chess set for the moneyIt's well made, with a magnetic closure that keeps it shut. The wooden pieces and board are large enough to not restrict one's view, which is most important to me. I wish it had a foam insert for keeping the pieces, but a freezer bag is sufficient. With five kids, I'm going to get a couple more of these.

Go is not a particular "bloody" game at all. Rather it accentuates elements such as "balance" & "harmony", "efficiency" and "shape". Unlike Chess it is not concerned at all with the killing or capture of a King. Indeed, the game does not revolve around killing or capture at all. While the game is won by the player with the most territory, interestingly the acquisition of territory is almost an afterthought in a game played by experienced players!
There are no "squares" - it is a grid.
The stones are played on the intersections.
Unlike Chess, Go has an effective handicap system so that weaker players can play with much stronger players on an even footing.
Bloody games include things like the typical "video game", fwiw.
So, this "product" is probably sufficiently good to provide a playing surface and stones to start to play... although I have not seen the product myself.
