Great for your little helperThis was a 2nd birthday present and my daughter loves it. She would always pull our brooms out of the pantry and sweep the floors. This is great because it is the perfect size for toddlers. There is an on/off switch so he can be turned off. The only issue we have with it is that the handle is made up of three pieces put together. My daughter doesn't put things down lightly and when she drops it on the tile floor, the handle comes apart sometimes. Other than that, it is a great toy and our little one loves to sweep with it.
good purchaseWe bought this for our 17mos old at the time for Christmas. She is almost 2 and it is still durable. I love that you can shut the sounds off if needed. Nothing like trying to pick it up during nap time and it laughs at you:) Everytime I sweep anything she helps too. The pole which hooks together is just fine for us. The top plastic part of the broom started to crack, but is still usable. My daughter still loves the broom, she doesn't use the dust pan much. She loved it when Santa brought it, because it's like mama's.
My 2 yr old great granddaughter loves it! Says "sweep, sweep".My 2 year old great granddaughter thinks Silly Sam is great. She loves to sweep the kitchen and rugs. It was a big hit at the birthday party.

Fun and LearningBought this for my 5 year old. Both he and my 7 year old have enjoyed playing with it. They especially like the silly things it does, like sometimes telling them their credit card has been declined, etc. Seems well constructed and has some good learning games, too.
Great toy!My daughter got this for her birthday (3 years old). Even though she is not old enough yet to really count the money she has had a blast "ringing things up" on the scanner and paying with the credit card. She also really likes the coin slot. When she puts the money in it tells her what the coin was. She has done this over and over again. She is also having fun going around the house collecting items in her shopping cart and then ringing them up.
I can see this being a toy she will play with for many years. It has math games that seem like they will be fun and educational. Very nice, oh, and my dad observed that the coin slot works with real coins too!
The negatives... The drawer shoots out quickly and the plastic coins tend to slosh out. Also the weighing tray comes off easily. I'm going to put that away till my daughter gets a little older.
Overall- a great toy!

Better designed than othersMy daughter received this set as a Christmas gift. I was going to return it because I had already purchased the Graco set. We decided to keep it because we have two little girls and figured two different patterns would be great. I must say, the Cabbage Patch set is VERY well made. The quilting design is nicely done and it looks like it is going to hold up really well. The best part of it is the diaper bag. This bag converts into a changing pad by opening it up. When open, it maintains the main pocket that everything was placed into. This seems logical I know, but the Graco bag when it is opened opens into one flat piece. It does not keep any pocket, so whatever was in the bag goes all over the place. All in all, we have one of each set and my girls love them both. I just think the Cabbage Patch one (and I admit this grudgingly) is a little better designed. I highly recommend it. The only possible downside is that an older child might find the pattern too babyish. For us, it's great. It has greatly increased the amount of time my girls play with their dolls because it gives them a way to really feel responsible. They understand the concept of diaper bags, etc. and can relate. The ability to take care of their babies has somehow changed the babies from a toy that gets tossed after a little playtime into more of a member of the family. We can't leave the house without them now. Anyway, great set... we love it.

Looks good, but could be betterI love the looks of this puzzle, especially the large knobs for younger children. However, the pictures under the shapes are so weird, I don't think they help my daughter to understand the correspondence between the pieces and their places. A pentagonal house? The back of a kite for a diamond? For the intended age group, it would be better if the picture underneath was an exact match of the puzzle piece, as with the Small World Toys baby puzzles.
Good for little onesMy daughter loves this puzzle. At age 1 she is easily able to grab the knobs and the pictures are large and easily recognizable for her. She is not yet able to put them where they go, but can match them up. My only complaint is that after just one day, part of the top layer started to peel away and had to be glued back down.
Great learing tool and toyThe pieces are large and complex enough for a 12 month old to gain control of the piece so it can be easily put into place. I wish I had bought this sooner.

Tomy Bring Along Thomas
Made by Tomy

Average review score:

It's okay.We got this toy as a gift. It's okay. On car trips and long waiting periods, it holds the attention for a very brief period. I think it's better for a shorter wait period, like the doctor's office.
My main issue with it is that it just misses the boat on just about every front. The little Thomas needs pretty good fine motor skills to wind it independantly for a child, and by the time they have these, the kids are really too old for the toy. While it's pretty sturdy, there are smallish parts that can easily get lost that will make the toy unusable. If you are using something for travel, you don't want losable small parts.
For the age group this is for, you are better off getting them a new train for the cost and giving them a pad of paper to draw a line on (a track) and let them do that for awhile for travel. It will give you more independance and work much better.

Great idea but...I bought this toy for my four year old son, it worked great right out of the box...for about an hour. My son had difficulty winding the train up and because of this he would accidentally wind it backwards, which ended up breaking the train in no time flat. This toy while working did bring a big smile to his face and he giggled while watching Thomas cross over the bridge, I just wish the train had been made differently, maybe a push and go or something a bit easier to use for 3 years and up.
Great Toy!We bought this for our son and were thrilled with this toy. He picked it out himself and has been playing with it ever since. His older sisters even fight over who is going to play with it. All the pieces fit into the case. when you unfold it the pieces fit into holes so they won't tip over. Even the horses are made of a really neat rubbery plastic so they don't tip over easily. The train winds up and goes around the track. it is made so the train will go around the track and then do a figure 8. The toy is inexpensive and so much fun. He will sit and play for a long time with this. I would definately recommend this one. (one note: the pieces are small so keeping track of them may be difficult)

Jenga Stacking Game
Made by Milton Bradley
- The blockbuster of all stacking games with hardwood blocks. Pull out blocks, place them on top...don't topple the teetering tower! JENGA, JENGA, JENGA!
- Ages: 8 and Up. 1 or More Players. PLAY 1. The player who built the tower goes first. Play then continues to the left.
- 2. On your turn, carefully remove a block from anywhere BELOW the highest completed story Then stack it on top of the tower, at right angles to the blocks just below it. 3. Removing and Stacking Blocks Remove and stack one block per turn. To remove a block, use one hand at a time.
- You can switch hands whenever you wish. As play proceeds and the weight of the tower shifts, some blocks become looser than others and are easier to remove. You can touch other blocks to find a loose one - but if you move a block out of place, you must fix it (using one hand only) before touching another block.
- While stacking, always complete one 3 - block story before starting a higher one. 4. Your turn ends 10 seconds after you stack your block-or as soon as the player to your left touches a block. 5. Keep removing and stacking blocks until the tower falls.

Fun on its own, but better when combined with other gamesI played this game a few times over the years, and it's fun, but not exactly something I felt compelled to own.
Many years later, I came across Jenga again, but this time it was combined with a horror/suspense role-playing game. If you like playing RPGs, but don't like being held down by stats, die rolls, and rules, I'd suggest checking out the Dread RPG by Impossible Dream (tiltingatwindmills.net).
Whereas in other horror and suspense RPGs, you can say "my character is feeling scared", in Dread, you can look at the swaying tower and feel as scared as your character is.
Now a Jenga game is a "must-have" in my game closet!

Bubble Party Machine
Made by Toysmith
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Slippin' and Slidin'The bubble machine was an absolute hit with the children at the party. It worked well and produced lots of bubbles that flew through the yard. There was only one downfall. When the wind didn't take the bubbles into flight, they would pop on the concrete. This made the concrete extremely slippery and dangerous for the childern playing around the machine. It just needed to be a little more powerful to blow the bubbles further. After we moved the machine, all was fine.
Bubble Machine ComparisonComparison of:
-Bubble Party Machine
-Gazillion Bubble Machine
-Typhoon the Ultimate Bubble Fountain
-Bubble Party Machine
-Creative Motion 80202-9 Bubble Machine
I purchased the 4 above Bubble Machines for a local
New Orleans event, The PussyFooters' Car Wash, and didn't
want to be disappointed, since the bubbles were to be used
for attracting drivers' attention. These are my findings.
#1 Overall - Bubble Party Machine
Of the 4 machines this was the ONLY one to deliver as one would expect.
Used the AC adaptor (included), didn't try the 8 C cells.
Immediate bubbles each and every time you turn it on
Double wands, offset from each other, results in continuous bubbles.
Directional flaps to control air flow.
Windy conditions and still bubbled.
The Only problem was that it has a tendency to "spit" soap solution along with the bubbles (due to the extra strong fan).
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002COIZO/102-5922722-2809761?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance
One review says that "Only one side was blowing bubbles and they were very, very weak". There are directional flaps inside that redirect the fan's air. If these are 90 degrees off, then they will block the fan, i.e. no bubbles, otherwise, if the fan is blowing, the wheel is turning, and soap is in the tray, this thing will bubble!
The rest are hard to rate, they all came in fourth compared to the
output of the Bubble Party Machine.
Gazillion Bubble Machine
Used 6 AA batteries.
Not bad for the price, worked when protected from the wind.
Creative Motion 80202-9 Bubble Machine
Might have worked if not so windy, used the AC adaptor included.
When working, gaps between bubbles.
Mishandling caused wand wheel to snap.
-Gazillion Bubble Machine
Used 8 AA batteries.
Extremely poor design, uses a pump to pump solution from bottom to top resulting
in heavy battery consumption.
Attempts to coat wand in horizontal position, many "duds" resulting in few bubbles.

More of a Challenge than regular UnoI like this game more than the original Uno because I find it more of a challenge. I love that it has the most up to date movie photos on the cards. This game is worth the money and any Harry Potter fan or Uno fan young or old will get a kick out of this game.
Harry Potter Uno NOW are not the same cards as last yearVery disappointed in recent order of May 2006 as cards are smaller and pictures are not the same as order of last year (3 purchased).
Do not believe the pictures in the ad (good ones from last year) as Toys R Us must have changes manufacturers.
Great game but I want the old cards.
