Not true DVDs, won't work on computer
You can not play "read with me DVD"s on a computer that plays DVDs. My kids each have a portable computer for playing games and watching DVDs. These do not work at all. Normal DVDs have options that you sellect on the screen. These need to have a remote control, which our computers do not have. This is a substandard DVD, and probably should not be called a DVD.

Learn to read DVD
My son is 5 and this was a great gift for him. He enjoys the many different activities associated with each DVD. Unlike a previous person complained, I was fully aware you needed the special player to view this DVD. The player is very easy to use and my son requires very little assistance from me. He sits for over an hour playing with each DVD!!!

Great product!
My son received this as a christmas gift, and thoroughly enjoys it. This is not a regular DVD. It is designed to go with the "Read With Me DVD" system (a separate remote control that works with it on your TV). A previous reviewer was not aware of this, so it should not have received a bad review for consumer error.

LeapPad - Green

great concept but poor quality...
can't help but agree with other reviewers. our unit doesn't also recognize most of the cartridges we have here. sadly, our location is in asia and there's nothing much we can do. it frustrates the kids to keep on hearing the "ooops! that's not a leap pad cartridge!" what a waste of money...

Good Content - Junk Product
My three kids (ages 3, 5, and 7) love these things, and it is great while it works. We are now moving on to our 5th one in 1 year. Besides just plain not turning on frequently, it also decides to say "whoops that's not a leap pad cartridge". This is NOT a toy you can leave a small child to enjoy without an adult constantly jiggling the cartridge or pen. When we called the company, who instructed us to clean the cartridges as well as the notebook, I followed what they said to do and either it doesn't work, or it will work with one but then stop working with that one a few minutes later. I've also replaced the pens half a dozen times. I tell them this and they tell me it must be defective, but how many defective ones are there and why am I finding them all? The only reason I replace it is because my children love it so much, but I am just about at the point of saying no more. After buying notebooks and dozens of cartridges to go with it and to have it work for several months, maybe it should be called the disposible leap pad notebook. It's a real shame as the overall concept and content is excellent. It is too bad that cheap manufacturing makes it basically a piece of junk. I am fed up with it, and my kids are heartbroken that their favorite toy is broken... again.

Doesn't last????
I am very pleased with this product! We have ours for almost 5 years now, and it was used in my classroom when I taught kindergarten. I now am a stay at home mommy and my son uses the same one! It was obviously used everyday when I taught and I had no problems then either. Now it gets used maybe 4 times a week, and my son can independently insert the matching cartridges with NO problems. He does that cause we took the time to teach him. I recommend it to EVERYONE! In fact, we purchased one for our cousin just last month for her birthday! Try it, and you will love it!

Scrabble - Deluxe Turntable Edition

Very disappointing quality
One of the best games out there, but this version is far from Deluxe, and I agree with the other reviewers about disappointment with the VERY cheaply made board. I would suggest finding a "classic" deluxe edition on an auction site.

Very disappointing quality of the item
There is no question that Scrabble is both fun and educational from kids to senior citizen adults but the "quality" of this alleged "deluxe" turntable edition leaves much to be desired!

Besides being all plastic and the tile holding raised area only barely holding the tiles in place, the only plus side to the thing is the turntable feature but even this tends to do a sort of moving stroll so to speak and often has to held in place! Very disappointing and hardly worth what is being charged for it which I in fact believe to be a grossly inflated overcharge!

Some reviewers have commented on the older 80's vintage turntable edition of the game and that was a decidedly superior product. This apparently updated thin plastic and so-called 'deluxe' version is pure manufacturer sales hype. At half the price, it would still have been a questionable value! The quality of the item is just not there although I will make clear this in no way detracts from the fun and educational value of the game itself.

Doc Tony

This ain't your grandma's Scrabble...
So, you want to buy Scrabble, huh? You were playing at your Grandmas, and you saw she had this cool version with a rotating turntable, wooden tile holders, nice deep pockets where the letters sit on the board. You decided to buy one yourself here at amazon. You ordered it, excited to have a high quality Scrabble in your own possession. You get it in the mail, you open the box, thrilled to own Scrabble, but then.... the unthinkable!! This ain't your Grandma's Scrabble!! What they have done, is turn a nice idea into the cheapest thing they could come up with and still call it "deluxe Scrabble". PLASTIC. Everything is PLASTIC. The tiles might be wood, I dunno I didn't bite them, but everything else is cheap, thin plastic. Doesn't turn nice like the old version. And the biggest kicker of them all, is the board itself. Gone are the nice deep squares the tiles would sit in - where even if you bumped into the game or table, they would stay put. Now it's shallow grooves, and you have to be careful not to turn the board to quicky or they'll move easy.

You're better off buying an old one at a garage sale.

5 star expectation
I am expecting to give a 5 star review. I have not used this product yet. I just purchased it for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She has been telling me that she wants the Easter Bunny to bring her a computer. Mommy works on a laptop all day and she is so interested in using my keyboard. I thought this looked like a real laptop and it should interest her as much as mine does. I have originally thought that this would be too advanced for her (ages 5 and up listed on my box), but after reading a few of the reviews it might just be the right challege that she needs.

Mom in Michigan

Impressive!
I bought this for my grandson's 6th birthday along with the case. He started using it immediately and thinks it is just like Mom's and Grandma's laptops--mouse and all! But this is kid-sturdy and educational. He loves it.

A gift that keeps giving
I purchased this activity notebook for my granddaughter who has scheduled a thirty minute session each night after dinner. It was her request, by the way. I like the fact that it tracks progress and has levels of difficulty that will keep her attention for years to come. As a bonus, her little brother can use it as well when he is old enough. I predict its usefulness in their household for at least the next twelve years. Its the best gift I've ever purchased for a child.

Not for picky moms
While I love Dr. Suess and his books, I didn't love leap frog's version of his book. Of course Dr. Suess's words were wonderful and I liked how simple the page lay outs were (compared to some cluttery leap frog books)
I did NOT like the un needed ugly phrases that the Leap Pad people added. (the bumble bee was rude and cruel!)
Even my son said "Mom that was UGLY!" to some of the phrases.
And the voices of some of the characters sound almost sinister. Maybe the "goth kids" grew up and got jobs at leap frog, but as I remember Dr. Suess he was funny and quirky NOT creepy.
Sorry leap frog guys, I feel that you missed the point, and tone of Dr. Suess's wonderful books. I feel that some of the phrases in this book are NOT age appropriate. I would like to see more "innocent" books where they are not cynical or cruel to each other.(3-5 year olds should not be forced to be cynical!)
I guess I am picky, I also don't let my son watch sponge bob, or tom and Jerry (too violent) BUT if you are not picky and think sponge bob is great, then you will probly like this book.
every mom is different....

Fun with microphone
I gave this book to my four year old son before a grueling 32-hour trip with four plane changes. He had a blast recording his own voice with the microphone. He had a wonderful time playing independently. It was so refreshing to see him laughing his heart out saying "NO, Pat!" and "Don't sit on that!"

Dr. Seuss Does It Again!
Dr. Seuss is doing an excellent job teaching my 5 year old son to read. Hop on Pop is fun and exciting and supports letter/sound recognition. It develops reading patterns and reinforces the concept of rhyming words. I definitely recommend it for emergent readers.

Very disapointed
My son loved the learning table so I really thought the pots and pans would be a big hit when I purchased them when my son was 8 mo old. I could not get the product to say anything but, "Red pan in, Red pan out". I called the hotline at Fisher Price and they told me to change the battery which I had already done. While I was on the phone, my son dropped the pot and it began to sing the alphabet song. The cust. service rep. told me that the pots said and sang things at random and that it reponds when manipulated like a child would. I was disapointed because the toy responds VERY randomly and usually only sings if it is shaken very hard or dropped. I really feel I wasted my money on this one.

Save your money
This toy looks very appealing. I purchased this for my son, 16 months at the time thinking it would be a great toy to stash in the kitchen cupboard so he could play while I cooked cleaned etc. He played with it about 4 times total and he's 2 now! It doesn't do enough and does have much other than a shape sorter. I consider it wasted money but if my experience helps anyone I'm glad.

Great for stacking
This toy taught my son how to stack in a day. It is such a cute toy, and my son loves to beat everything with it. It has cute, silly songs, and as far as our toy goes it plays very easy. The only thing I don't like is the spoon, because it doesn't have a place. If you put it in the pot then you aren't able the sort the blocks. Overall, it's a good toy!

Beeswax Candle Kit
I purchased this for my daughter as well as my niece. It was a total waste of money. The wax was difficult to use and most of it cracked. As an adult, it was difficult to work with the wax. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Easy to make candles
A great project for kids--especially if studying colonial history to get an idea what candles were made from and how beeswax burned

Neat, sorta cool
This is a neat toy and it is sorta cool. I had alot of fun with it and you will to! I would reccomend buying it! Have fun!!

    Great product, great price!
I have been able to play both games, and both are enjoyable for either a quick game with friends, or long drawn out battle. This combination of games provides plenty to do with family and friends.

    Cheap & Fast
If you're looking for a great small party type game, these are a great combo. I got it on sale, so it's a nice cheap alternative to going to the store and paying almost 3 times the price. I would have bought them separately if the prices were right, but having these 2 games in a combo was perfect. Amazon also did a great job shipping it quick.

    Value Pack
Great twosome for tweens and young teens, especially for summer breaks or rainy days.

    LeapFrog: Phonics Writing Desk

      Haven't rec'd. item
I've been waiting for this item for almost one month. Why advertise if you do not have it? I missed presenting tihis to the child because of this delay. I like the ideal of the toy therefore I'm still waiting patiently.

This writing desk is great and also convenient for the little people.
This toy is wonderful. The item description provided is exact. It teaches letters, phonics, spelling, and writing. It even teaches BOTH lower case and upper case letters! Especially neat; when your child presses a letter, for instance D, it says the letter D than the phonics sound (if you have the switch set to phonics) and then the little screen clearly shows just how to write the letter properly.

While this toy seems very useful, parents are advised that children should be learning how to spell and write lower case letters BEFORE they learn the capital letter symbols. When children read books or see words in print in most places, they will NOT see words printed in all capital letters. The younger the children, the more important it is to learn first words in lower case letters because that will transfer more quickly to reading words in books.

This particular toy offers upper or lowercase letters, and shows you how to write both. In fact, the early levels show you both versions for identification. My 4 year old son uses both upper and lower case letters (he mixes them randomly) but has no trouble understanding that there are two different ways to write one letter.

My only complaint would be wishing for more Writing Area. I think it would be easier for the children to stretch out their words especially once the get the hang of it. And I would also leave off some of the sounds. My son enjoys more learning and hands on activities instead of having to listen for "instructions, correct and incorrect" and having to figure out what the toy "said" through its little speaker.

This toy has proven to perform durability, as well, surviving several falls down the stairs and drops off the couch without any problems.

A great learning tool to teach young children the ABC
My son helped him learn the ABC when he had this and I liked the product so much I had to purchase it for my niece to help her learn the ABC. This is a great product not just to teach the ABC, but to help them write and the sound of each letter and to know the difference between Capital and lower case. This is a great product to purchase for any young children.
