But, before I wrapped it I gave it a test run on my ceiling.
I'm generally pleased with the product, but the stars are a little blurry. I give it 4 out of 5 stars on the rating scale. (no pun intended). The reflected stars are soothing and the new parents seem to like it.

My husband and I actually bought the turtle for ourselves. It sits on a chair in our bedroom - we turn it on every night before bed. The turtle is very cute and has three color lights to choose from (blue, white and green). The stars are kinda blurry with the white light, but are clear with the green and the blue. The light is soft and lasts just long enough to get to sleep.

My 6 year old loves this puzzle. The only slight issue we have is if you don't layer the puzzle pieces in the box just so it is hard to close the box. This happens because the peices are so nice and thick....which is great. I only had to show my son once to slow down and put the pieces away slowly for him to get it. Other than that tiny hiccup it has been an everyday toy for my son for the past 2 months. I also found the puzzle at a discount chain (rhymes with floss) for half off so be on the look out.

I bought this puzzle for my 3 year old son who was fascinated with planets and space stuff. I have never been so impressed with a toy purchase. You really can't find a better puzzle for kids. The pieces are quite large, and they're very durable. They also are "wipeable" in case sticky fingers get a hold of them. The picture itself is very colorful and pleasing to the eye. It shows all the planets, and includes the moon and sun. Even the asteroid belt. It's a great puzzle, and a great educational toy. I intend to get more puzzles from this company. Simply outstanding. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

This puzzle is very sturdy; not as bendy as most puzzles. My daughter loves putting this puzzle together. She is five and we are learning about the Solar System. I like this toy because after you put it together you can quiz your child on Solar system facts. Ask your child to point out which planet is the largest (Jupiter...although in this puzzle they make earth look larger because of the perspective)Ask him/her which planet is the smallest, which planet is closest to the sun...etc...etc...the learning never ends! There are always new solar system facts you can add into your fun! I strongly recommend this toy as a fun learning tool for you and your child. I really love all the Melissa and Doug products.

My 3 year old absolutely LOVES making this puzzle, with my help. I give her about 5 pieces at a time, and she sings the song, and gets the right pieces... every time we make it she gets better and better at being able to name the letters, and their sounds, and the pictures. Now she can almost make the puzzle by herself, and delights in doing so. The pieces are sturdy; the pictures are bright and engaging. I love it's size, because it makes the puzzle fun and there's no doubt as to which piece she's pointing to when she names a letter.

Our son starting playing with this puzzel at 2 1/2 years and he's 3 now and still loves building the "alphabet train". He loves trains and saying the alphabet, so this is a really fun activity for him and the whole family. Each time he picks the correct letter to attach on the train, he shouts "chugga chugga choo choo!" with a huge, proud smile.

My three-year-old loves trains and puzzles. This is the best combination - he can put together a puzzle and play with a train all while learning the alphabet.

I bought this thinking my son would enjoy it at about a year and a half. As soon as I put it on the fridge he understood how to push the buttons and really enjoys the song. I like the song too, the voice is not one that makes you cringeeach time you hear it, instead you chuckle at the silliness of it. I think every child should have one of these.

This fun little toy helps entertain my daughter while I do dishes and get dinner ready. She initially just had fun fitting the pieces into the main toy; now she brings the magnets to us and says "horse" or "cow." It's the rare educational and fun toy that makes sounds but isn't terribly annoying. There are also two volume levels, which is good for the parents.

Received this as a gift for my 5 month old son. He LOVES it!!!! His face just lights up & he gets the biggest grin whenever he hears it and we dance to the music. BONUS: It's also a great way to distract a hungry baby while his bottle warms.

This puzzle has been through two kids in my house and it's still in great shape. The cardboard is thick and durable. The picture is friendly and interesting. It's been a favorite with my kids.

However, if you are buying this puzzle for a two-year old or younger, this puzzle can be very cumbersome to solve simply because the pieces are gigantic. As a small child solves the puzzle, he must basically crawl over it to reach the other parts and that causes the pieces to come apart. The floor puzzles like this one have caused some aggravation with my kids simply because they can't avoid getting on the puzzle to reach sections and that undoes their work. We have found smaller sized pieces to be easier to solve, as long as the fine motor skills allow. Just something to keep in mind...

Both of my boys love Thomas. I really scored when I found this Thomas puzzle. The puzzles is built to take the abuse of a 2 & 4 yr. The box that it comes in, is a bit of pain to get all the tabs undone to get to the puzzle. Cute box, but a pain.

My 3 year old likes this puzzle (she loves the Thomas character) and really enjoys doing this one. The color is bright and the picture is interesting. This one is a great starter for kids learning how to work with puzzles. I gave 4 out of 5 only because this one isnt as challenging as some other 24 piece puzzles... though that doesnt seem to deter my youngster, who puts it together daily.

I thought this Fire Truck was the best one when investigating others against it on line. My gramdson wanted a FT this was a big deal to him for Christmas.
My grandson is 21/2, he loved it and started to play with it right away.
It looked as if it could last for years but the top of the Fire Truck wood piece came off in his hand and the locks were hard to work. He was frustrated, I was more than very dissapointed. The truck had to be put up to glue pieces back on and work with the locks to make them easier for him to use. I was not happy.

My 2yr old son received this for his 2nd birthday from my sister and has absolutley no interest in it at all. He loves puzzles, and he loves firetrucks so we thought it would be a big hit, but it just sits around collecting dust. It is a good price, the "latches" firetruck that Melissa&Doug makes is much more fun, but very pricey.

This was a great buy from Amazons sale rack at five dollars and 29 cents plus free shipping. My [...] just loves puzzles and we are certainly fond of Melissa and Doug products. We normally purchase them from Tuesday Morning or our local hobby store because they are usually cheaper.

This puzzle has made my toddler happy. He fits it together then dumps it, repeating the process several times a day. The drawing is realistic and there are no pegs, so it gives a little more grown up feel to the piece.

My children were 5 and 7 when we bought rush hour three years ago. They both love it. It is their first choice for a car trip. My husband enjoys it as much as they do. We have also purchased the next two levels of cards. It is very challenging and requires alot of problem solving skills. We highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful item that will make your child think. It is also equally fun for adults. Challenge your child.

I just bought this game for my (...) grandson and now everyone is hooked on it. It is fun for everyone. My grandson can work all the way to advanced. Some of my friends have trouble with intermediate. It all depends on the person. It's teaches children to think for themselves.
