If you bought the first kit and this one then you'll have two wands and no fighting! This kit has the "Polyjuice Potion" (iron fillings and magnetic wand to make herminone's image in a petri dish look "hairy", "Swelling Solution" (nose absorbs water to "grow", and "Skele-Gro" (tape, tongue depressors, and sticky hand) experiments. You get to make a binder with the kit too. Loads of fun!

This was a kit of the month type item from 2002. This is the first kit "Spells and Potions" Chemistry I. You get a cool plastic wood looking wand, a tiny black cauldron (with a clear cup insert), plastic gloves, blue hydrophobic sand, brown leather looking laces, thick paper card (to use with the laces to make a cool looking binder), clear plastic pipettes, a clear plastic measuring scoop, a small double sided poster (witch and wizard in training notes on the back for you to make notations - make a copy so you can display the poster). The experiments are "Invisibility Cystals", "Foaming Cauldron", "Pressure to Perform", "Soda Pop Fizz", "Pepper Power", "Filling Your Cauldron", "Mix It Up". and "Mystical Sand". You need baking soda, pepper, vinegar, newspaper, water, string, resealable bag, Liquid soap, food coloring, index card, salt, cooking oil, and a paper clip. My children are 2, 6, 8, and 9 and they have had a tremendous amount of fun with this kit! I highly recommend them for a fun themed science activity. This shark kit has been the highlight of my son's (age 7) study of the undersea world. The instructions were easy to follow and the reward was almost instant! It takes just 30 minutes for the mold to initially "set" and just two more hours for it to be ready to paint. The information regarding sharks in the packet was very informative, causing my son to say "Wow, I didn't know that!" My son and I have really enjoyed this product!

I am very disappointed. I bought this tumbler for my child. The unit ceased to work within three weeks. We were never able to polish any rocks because of this. In my opinion, this unit is a toy. I just threw money out the window buying. Next time I will buy a professional rock tumbler.

This rock tumbler was a complete waste of money and time. Yes time.....no where on the box does it say you need a full month to complete the tumbling process. It is loud and anoying and I could hear clear on the other side of the house. After anticipating great results we were extremely disappointed. The rock came out smoother yes......but dull, dull, dull. If you child loves rocks so much like my child go buy a bag of pre-polished rocks for about $5 somewhere.

After following the instructions carefully, my rocks came out of the tumbler looking dull and without a hint of shine. The rocks were smooth but didn't look at all like the misleading pictures seen on the package and advertisements. I could have accomplished the same thing by walking two blocks away and picking up a handful of pebbles in a running brook!

I bought this for my daughter (age 4) for Christmas, and she was thrilled to be getting her own game, and about dinosaurs, no less! Unfortunately her enthusiasm (and mine, my almost 6 year old son's, my husband's, and my mother-in-law's) quickly died out as we played. It is advertised as similar to Candyland, which it is. But unlike Candyland, there are very few ways to change the order of the players--once someone gets out in front, they stay there. Even playing at Level 1, when you don't have to answer the questions, it is just too long. And as for the questions...well, there is one question card for each area on the board. On the card is a question for each color on the die. So if everyone rolls the same color (which did happen when we played), then everyone gets the same question. So basically, we are pretty disappointed with the game. The best part about it seems to be fitting the dinosaur puzzle pieces into each side of the board.

By combining a puzzle with a game we found this to be really fun to play. My kids wanted to play it again and were thrilled to be able to answer more questions the more they played. My youngest child even caught me from behind and ended up beating me! The reading,web site and museum list in the instructions was a great added bonus. I would recommend this for any one who likes dinosaurs.

We first saw this game at the NAGC (National Assoc for Gifted Children) conference this year and were intrigued. Our son is 4 and loves to play the game. We have all learned so much about the different eras and the history of the dinosaurs. Definitely recommended for children interested in science and/or dinosaurs. The different levels of questions allow the game to grow with the child.
