You get what you pay for!
Three of the six pieces to this set fell apart within 3 weeks. Better to pick out components individually that you're interested in than spend (your money)on this garbage. 1 star is too many for the rating.

    CHEAP TOY!
This product was given to our 9 year old son from Santa. For the price, I thought that all the items I was receiving was going to be a great deal! NOT! The watch battery went dead w/in days after Christmas! The camera, you might as well bought out of a gum-ball machine!...easly broken. (Just by loading the film & the pictures that were developed were horrible. Even the ones I took.) The other "outdoor items" are very cheaply made & break easily. (To repeat the quote like they came out of a .50 gum-ball machine.)
It is NOT worth it at all. It is very cheaply made! Please save your self the agervation & tears & do NOT buy it!

    great for preschoolers
The outdoor adventure kit worked great to keep my 3 year old son occupied while his older brother and I worked with the telescope. He now has his "gear" and lets his brother work in semi-peace.

Dig for dinosaurs at your kitchen table!
If your child loves dinosaurs, you *must* buy this.

I bought this for my 4-year-old son because he eats, sleeps, breathes dinosaurs. Inside a brick of clay lurks the "skeletons" of two velociraptors. The kit includs a digging/scraping tool and brush for my little paleontologist to literally dig the two skeletons out of the brick.

The booklet included in the kit is extremely well-done; it discusses dinosaurs and velocirators' living and eating habits, shows the different pieces of plastic skeleton that were buried within the clay, gives tips on identifying and how to record findings, and gives instructions for putting the pieces together to make complete skeletons.

I have to admit that the clay is very hard, and scraping takes a very long time--so we gently tap away chunks of the clay using a tack hammer and small chisel. I do most of the scraping, and he does the brushing. The brush isn't big enough, so the buyer might invest in a much bigger paintbrush (or old blush brush).

The best part is discovering yet another bone. They are exciting to find, challenging to extract, and very fun!

My kids are begging for more
I got my daughter a Dino Dig of a T Rex skull three years ago, and since that Christmas she and her girl cousins (age 6 8 and 10) are all asking for more. They love the fun of hands-on science and discovering the bones inside, whether it is a baby dino in an egg, a footprint, skull, etc. It is messy, but afterwards you can bury your fossil (and other stuff) in the sandbox, water it, let it dry for a few hours, and play archaelogist all afternoon. It sure beats the art kits little girls usually get, both for fun and educational value- I'd rather my daughter engage in an archaelogical endeavor than make yet another bracelet or unicorn painting. She is ten now and still loves this line of toys - has a cabinet full of "fossils" to show off, too, and most important, a growing love of science.

    Simply Amazing!
I had this exact capsela set about 20 years ago. I can't begin to describe how many things you can do with it. You create the ideas in the book they provide or make your own creations. Promotes conceptualism and problem solving. This was one of my all-time favorite toys.

    Incredible Learning Toy
This is one toy I remember from my childhood (I was nine). I was so intruiged by this toy, and proud of my ability to create something so sophisticated! The toy consists of wheels, rubber tires, wires to connect (color coded, if I remember correctly), and other interesting components. The only reason I noted four stars for durability is that you do need to be careful with the wires and connections. Highly recommended.

this toy is hard to operate, hard to see through, I should of bought a more expensive one to get better quality

        Good 1st Microscope
After playing around with the telescope for a long time, we finally got it to work. This really needs adult help to get started. My 8 year old is enjoying it now that we made all the adjustments.
